John & Sinead Kerr well-placed in Bern |

Murrayfield Club Honorary members Sinead and John Kerr are well-placed
to capture the second major international medal of their career after a
superb short dance at the European Figure Skating Championships in Bern,
Switzerland. |

John & Sinead,
currently in third place, collected European bronze in 2009, have
already proved their form this season, scooping silver at the Skate
Canada International.

John & Sinead Kerr Win European Bronze in Bern |

John and Sinead Kerr won their second European
Championship medal as they secured ice dance bronze at the European
Figure Skating Championship in Bern.
Competing in their eighth
championship, the seven time British champions maintained their
reputation for adding a contemporary twist to their performances by
skating to music by alternative rock band Muse.
Performing to “Exogenis Symphony” John & Sinead produced a flowing and
emotional performance that was highlighted by interesting lifts and
intricate footwork. |

The brother and sister team earned 94.62 points and accumulated
157.49 points overall to return on to the podium. They had won the
bronze in 2009 as well.
John said “It feels great. We’re bit disappointed last year.
We’ve might
have had a better shot at gold if he had competed all season. It was a
tough job getting any medal coming into this competition as the other
competitors were great”,.
Sinead commented. “I am pretty happy with the free skate. I got spooked
on the first twizzle so the second one ended up being not so good but
the steps were okay.
I am proud of Sinead coming back like this after her dislocated
shoulder”, her brother added.

It is with regret
that we have to advise of the death of one of the senior members of the
Club
Mike Banks
(Crossford, Dunfermline). Mike passed away peacefully,
in Special Care unit, Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline, at 1.30am on
Friday 16th December 2011. Following a short illness.
Mike’s funeral will take place at 10.00am on Thursday 22nd December 2011
at Dunfermline Crematorium. |
